The Clock is a game mechanic throughout the Five Nights at Freddy's series. Located at the upper right-hand corner of the screen, where it remains constantly, it tells the player what time it is within the game. The clock only shows the current hour with no sign of minutes or seconds. In Five Nights at Freddy's , not ever hour has the same duration. So a full night duration is min. Once 6 AM is reached, the screen fades to an animation of 5 AM rolling over to 6 AM accompanied by a bell-chime jingle and the sound of cheering kids. In Five Nights at Freddy's 2 , an hour is shortened to 68 seconds in length, so a night would be 6 minutes and 48 seconds long, meaning that the game without jumpscares and including night 6 is 39 minutes and 28 seconds. In Five Nights at Freddy's 3 , an hour is shortened even further to be 58 seconds long, making a night 5 minutes and 48 seconds long, meaning the game including nightmare takes 33 minutes and 28 seconds without jumpscares. In Five Nights at Freddy's 4 , the hours are 60 seconds making each night 6 minutes long, meaning the game without jumpscare take 36 minutes. In the Mobile versions, the nights are much shorter, but to counter this, in every game, the animatronics are more aggressive, and in the first game, the player loses power faster, the second game, flashlight battery drains faster, and there is possibly no change to the 3rd game.

The Clock is a major game mechanic in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, and displays how much time the player has until the night shift ends. Each shift lasts 12 AM to 6 AM. It also pairs up with what night the player is on, with Five Nights at Freddy's 4 being the only exception. It is located in the heads-up display on the upper right-hand corner of the screen, where it remains constantly, even when the player is being jumpscared by one of the animatronics with the exception of running out of power in the first game and when wearing the Freddy Fazbear Head in the second game. Once the clock reaches 6 AM, the night ends, and the player moves on to the next night. In the first two games, it only displays the current hour; it does not show minutes, seconds, etc. However, this is not the case in the night completion screens in Five Nights at Freddy's 3 , in which the clock shows a transition from AM to AM. In Five Nights at Freddy's 4 , it changed into random numbers before reaching to
